Nike Elementary School - Catawissa, MO

Good Habits, Make Great Leaders!

Good Habits, Make Great Leaders!

Located at the foot of a Cuban Missile Air Defense Base, Nike Elementary has a unique origin and history in the rural town of Catawissa, Missouri, in the Meramec Valley R-III School District. Nike Elementary serves a rural population with approximately 60% of the students receiving free or reduced meals. Nike Elementary has one classroom per grade level which provides educators opportunities to build authentic relationships with students and families. Relationships are a key factor to the success in supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally.

Nike Elementary's core belief of "Good Habits, Make Great Leaders" provides the foundation for the culture of the school and frames positive expectations for all learners. This is guided through the program of "7 Habits of Happy Kids". Nike staff encourage each student to become a leader of their own learning. Teachers utilize a variety of instructional practices to support students in setting learning goals and tracking student's individual growth. Students are also provided opportunities to take on leadership roles throughout the school building that supports each student’s individual leadership style. Nike Elementary is the proud recipient of Missouri Gold Star School in 2006 and 2018.
