Lake Road Elementary School truly defines what a positive, nurturing school culture feels like. A student's day begins with a smile and a handshake from teachers, staff, and peers. Each morning, the entire school assembles together with the purpose of building a strong school community, celebrating student success, and practicing expectations. The principal, teachers, staff, and students at Lake Road have worked together to create a common language of expectations through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

Students enter classrooms where the teachers value individual needs first and foremost. Our curriculum opens up doors for our students that would otherwise be inaccessible. Students attend differentiated learning groups, explore with STEM curriculum, and participate in extracurricular clubs. Students of Lake Road strive to be assessment capable learners who set personal behavior and learning goals based on their individual data. Our students are pushed to be leaders of their own learning and to adopt a growth mindset that will aid them in all future endeavors. Teacher collaboration, rigorous instruction, co-teaching, and student accountability have proven to be victorious strategies to increase our student growth and achievement.

The school's achievement is due to the tireless efforts to constantly and consistently search for ways to improve. Lake Road has achieved many distinctions for their efforts including: Achieving and exceeding the state goal for attendance, National Showcase School for Capturing Kids Hearts, Missouri Gold Star School for Academic Achievement, and the Dr. Mary Richter Award for PBIS. The positive relationships with community organizations and the adoption of a growth mindset of all stakeholders have helped to make Lake Road the elementary school that ROCKS.
