Jeffers staff and students celebrate spirit day

Jeffers Elementary School holds itself to the highest of standards. We are dedicated to the success of our students and in order to accomplish that we are intentional about our curriculum choices, our instructional techniques, and our quest for continual self improvement.

The curriculum we use at Jeffers is current and aligned to best practice instruction. n having two elementary schools in the district much time is dedicated to aligning the two schools so that all children in the district receive the same curriculum, regardless of the elementary school they attend. We've adopted the Units of Study in both reading and writing for all grades in our building and while some educators shy away from this type of instruction, we embrace it. We believe in our teachers. They are smart, professional, and dedicated. They study the curriculum with colleagues, participate in coaching sessions with their grade level and Literacy Coach, and they learn from each other through watching each other teach. It is an ongoing process and we maintain the mindset that "we’ve never quite arrived," there is always more to learn. And just like our students, we are always learning. We engage in book clubs with our students and with our staff. We attend relevant professional development that links directly to our teaching. We spend time aligning our curriculum within and across the grade levels.

There are many other factors that contribute to the success our students have experienced like the support from parents and community, a school board and administration that supports instruction and learning. But ultimately we go back to the incredible educators in our building who teach with passion and zeal each and every day.
