The annual Block Party features performers and artists from our K-12 program.

Lusher Charter School is a k-12 program recognized for excellence in the arts, academics, athletics, and empathy education. Our 1,826 students come from across the varied and historic neighborhoods of New Orleans.

Much of Lusher's success, stems from its long-standing philosophy of arts integration to enhance student achievement. Arts integration starts in the lower school; many Lusher students continue artistic pursuits in middle school and in the high school's Certificate of Artistry programs. The Lusher arts program, recognized as an Exemplary School by the Arts School Network, features classes in creative writing, dance, media arts, various music forms, musical theatre, stagecraft, theatre, and visual arts taught by 24 resident artists. Students explore opportunities to freely create, produce, and respond to varied art forms.

Lusher proudly offers rigorous Project Lead the Way (PLTW) sequences in Engineering and Biomedical Science. PLTW students learn to solve complex problems in a real-world context to prepare them for careers in STEM fields. Beginning with introductory engineering classes in the lower school, STEM options expand to include Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Innovation and AP courses in all sciences. Other offerings for high school students include an area of concentration in humanities/communications or math/science/engineering. Qualifying juniors and seniors earn tuition-free college credit at Tulane University.

Core values of kindness, respect, responsibility, and hard work are reinforced throughout the students' education. These values, the school's focus on student well-being, and its balanced program of arts and high academics have led to Lusher’s status as one of the highest performing k-12 schools in Louisiana and as one of the most sought-after programs in New Orleans.
