NBRS Badge for Marion Elementary School
Marion Elementary School - Marion, KS
MES students using teamwork during the annual Character Education Kickoff!
Located in a small town in southcentral Kansas, Marion Elementary School serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade. With small class sizes, strong community involvement, and continued emphasis on high expectations, Marion Elementary has found success throughout the years by placing students first. With strong, experienced teachers, combined with a mindset of always wanting to improve, many new ideas and initiatives have made a difference in classrooms. Technology is vital so Computers, tablets, and smart boards can be found in each classroom. Project Based Learning, grade level student buddies and guidance counseling are just a small part of what a student experiences at Marion Elementary.
Our first priority is to make sure each student can be successful and be exposed to many new and different ideas and ways of learning. Students can experience hands on learning through STEM projects, a part of the computer science group after school, or even participate in Running Wild, a running group that meets in the spring. On a daily basis students are placed in leveled groups through MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) for improving their reading and math skills, participate in music and physical education daily, and daily morning assembly gets our day going right!
With a strong connections with families and community members through our Watch D.O.G.S (Dads Of Great Students) program, volunteers in our classrooms and out on local field trips, as well as many other opportunities for parent and family involvement, it is easy to see how and why Marion Elementary is successful year in and year out!
