Lorenzo Walker Technical High School - Naples, FL
The schools of Lorenzo Walker provide engaging educational opportunities
There is a belief system at Lorenzo Walker Technical High School (LWTHS) that everyone will succeed and failure is not an option. All grade level teams have supports in place and practice a "U R > than 0" philosophy. We know our students as learners and as individuals but we also take time to build a rapport on a foundation of respect and trust. As a result of these beliefs and supports, the class of 2018 had a 99.3% graduation rate.
Although LWTHS is not a neighborhood school and our students come from across the 2,305 square miles of Collier County, there is a strong sense of community and belonging among the diverse student population. Educational and career opportunities are a reality at LWTHS, a Title I school where over 80% of students are on free and reduced lunch and over 70% speak a language other than English at home.
Students excel academically while pursuing a career pathway. All students, as part of their high school experience, participate in career dual enrollment and technical education programs at Lorenzo Walker Technical College (LWTC). Programs at LWTC prepare students with the skills to join the workforce and/or further their education upon high school graduation. For LWTHS students, this post-secondary education valued at $5,000 to $7,000, is part of their high school education at no cost. Furthermore, students can also participate in academic dual enrollment at the local state college to earn college credits. Without a doubt, high expectations and rigorous coursework lend themselves to extraordinary academic achievements for students, our "A" school grade for the last seven years, and becoming the #1 Title I high school in the state of Florida.
