Patch students collaborating to be college and career ready.
Alexander M. Patch Elementary School is a Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) school serving military-connected students living in Stuttgart, Germany. As nearly 500 students enter the doors of Alexander M. Patch Elementary School (PES) each day, they are immediately surrounded by the happy and welcoming smiles of the PES staff.
Our teachers work together to plan and implement a variety of learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of all of our students. According to Sir Winston Churchill, "Excellence is …caring more than others think is wise; risking more than others think is safe; dreaming more than others think is practical; expecting more than others think is possible." The caring actions of the entire staff of PES are reflected in the engaging interactions that occur among students, teachers, parents, and community members. The weekly recognition of "Kids With Character" reinforces the value placed on the development of the whole child. As challenging and risk-filled as change can sometimes be, the PES teachers are always open to embracing new learning opportunities to expand their teaching repertoires. The implementation of the College and Career Ready Standards has been met with many successes thanks to the dedicated efforts of lead teachers as they work with their colleagues to engage students in active, standards-based learning experiences. The culture of cultivating infinite possibilities for each member of the PES learning community is reflected in the daily interactions of staff members with students and community members as they work together to strive for excellence.
