Kendrick Lakes Elementary is a neighborhood school with a Gifted and Talented center program located in Lakewood, Colorado. Through strong partnerships with the community and high levels of collaboration among all staff, Kendrick Lakes intentionally provides learning that helps students explore and express their interests and passions. By focusing on the whole child, we aspire to have each Kendrick Lakes student leave our school as globally-minded, independent, caring, and respectful critical thinkers.

Grade level teachers engage in professional learning community processes while designing instruction that focuses on problem-solving, higher level thinking, and which incorporates technology. Teachers collaboratively create their learning targets and ensure that all students receive the intervention and extensions they need to meet and maximize their learning.

Knowing that students need to connect their learning to the broader world, teachers also create authentic learning experiences through field trips, guest speakers, PBLs, and numerous hands-on activities like designing solar-powered cars or MakerSpace challenges. These experiences encourage our students to take risks and results in them being advocates for improvements to our school that they create such as a recycling program, mindfulness centers, or playground enhancements to make recess more interactive and fun.

Our parents partner with individual teachers or with the school by volunteering in the classroom, by providing extension activities through our after school club system, by organizing our Science Extravaganza and Literacy nights, as well as fundraising to provide classroom libraries and technology to support learning.

Genuine, lasting relationships between all of our stakeholders create the sense of commitment and community that makes Kendrick Lakes a unique and special place to work, learn, and grow.
