Austin Middle School - Galveston, TX

Austin Middle School (AMS) is a 5th-8th grade STEM Magnet program located in Galveston, Texas. Teachers and staff at Austin Middle focus on strategies that challenge students to explore and innovate ideas which model real world learning and work environments. Our faculty encourages activities which include community partnerships and collaborative group work on projects to prepare our students with skills and strategies necessary to pursue future coursework in the STEM field. Student learning experiences at AMS are enhanced by participating in robotics, web design, video technology, graphic design, engineering, and the fine arts. Our students and staff have received recognition in various activities including robotics, essay and art competitions, and state recognition for distinguished performance on state assessments for the past eight years.

Receiving the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program Award in 2011 and 2017 will continue to catapult Austin Middle School's status as a top tier school. Strong schools mean strong communities. Strong community partnerships and parental involvement have allowed us to expand the educational experiences for our students in addition to fostering a sense of community. Students collaborate and participate in programs with individuals from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the city's banking and financial sector, local universities and colleges, the fine arts community, and state level government officials.
