Summary

St. Bernard Academy (SBA) is a Catholic independent, coeducational elementary school founded in 1866 by the Sisters of Mercy in Nashville, Tennessee. St. Bernard Academy recently completed a five million dollar campus expansion that added seven new classrooms, a 7500 square foot multi-purpose building, a music room, and a new administrative office space.

St. Bernard Academy takes pride in our strong academic programs and is well respected throughout the city of Nashville. SBA is a committed community of professional educators who value academic innovations that appeal to a diverse group of learners. Continual emphasis on professional development provides opportunities for educators to become experts in their respective disciplines. Our academic program allows students who are ready for additional challenges to work at an accelerated pace, one to two grade levels above traditional course work. Standards-based learning practices provide the opportunity for instructors to accurately assess and report student achievement. Increased opportunities for both inquiry and project-based learning are a priority.

St. Bernard Academy is rich in parent engagement and community involvement. Having just celebrated our 150th Anniversary, SBA provides a nurturing environment where each child is encouraged to reach his or her full potential. Self-discipline, compassion, and a sense of responsibility for social justice in the tradition of the Sisters of Mercy are the foundation of education at St. Bernard Academy.

St. Bernard Academy graduates are highly sought after by a variety of area high schools for both their academic strengths and personal character.
