Buist Academy for Advanced Studies - Charleston, SC

Buist Academy is an academic magnet, International Baccalaureate World School located in historic Charleston, SC. Our school provides a rigorous academic program that emphasizes achievement and excellence and promotes respect for individual differences. Our instructional curriculum is designed to meet the needs of every student by recognizing his or her unique learning style and academic strengths. We use inquiry-based strategies which stimulate curiosity and creativity among our students. Teachers use real-world context to frame instruction, then provide further learning opportunities through blended learning.

To prepare our students for the 21st century global workforce, we provide meaningful and purposeful experiences using technology in instruction. Classrooms have one-to-one iPad technology for every student and teacher. Teachers use SMART Board technology to excite, engage, and involve their students during lesson presentations. Each board provides touch screen technology that allow students to manipulate information on the screen and demonstrate knowledge through action.

Our foreign language program provides global perspective and experiences to every student. Language acquisition is only the beginning of our students' exposure to the international community. Students study the culture, customs, and traditions of the language they study. Perhaps most importantly, our school-wide philanthropic projects and extensive community service program promote caring and global citizenship.
