Fishing Cove Elementary School benefits from the support of the North Kingstown administrative team, dedicated staff, extensive PTO involvement, and community support. Our success in closing academic gaps can be attributed to three critical areas that define our school.
Our educators continuously check for student understanding and growth and then adjust instruction to assure that all students meet high expectations. This repeated cycle of assessment, interventions, and differentiation allows all students to flourish. The faculty pinpoints academic needs and designs rigorous instruction to meet those needs through research-based teaching practices. A daily priority is to cultivate a climate of respect for self and the school community. When students learn to recognize their feelings and internalize strategies to promote their own well-being, they become better learners, more respectful friends, and productive citizens. Utilizing Open Circle school-wide, children experience consistent common language across the grades. Staff and students collectively share responsibility for creating a warm, safe learning environment.
Instilling students with a life-long desire to learn by providing real-world contexts for learning is our ultimate goal. The Fishing Cove marsh motivates students to practice science, math, writing, and other skills. Multi-disciplinary projects, such as integrated arts and social studies assignments, encourage out-of-the box thinking. Students are challenged to take risks in an accepting environment that honors perseverance.
We are proud of Fishing Cove Elementary School and continually strive to improve our instructional practices to directly increase student academic achievement. High expectations are set for all to build positive relationships, resulting in a warm learning environment where students thrive.
