Classical High School, founded in 1843 is a co-educational public college preparatory school located in Providence, Rhode Island. The student body is selected on the basis of an entrance examination and superior academic achievement. The Classical High School community takes great pride in their commitment to rigorous academic expectations and supporting the personal learning goals of all students through a challenging program of study in the arts, sciences, languages, and humanities. A wide variety of extracurricular opportunities are offered to students including academic competitions, cross-cultural exchange programs, athletic programs, visual and performing arts programs, and many diverse student clubs and organizations. Classical maintains its rank as one of the highest performing public high schools nationwide, and its graduates go on to attend the most prestigious colleges and universities.

Classical High School continues to thrive in spite of the many social, economic, and political challenges facing its students and families. Together our students demonstrate courage in the face of struggle, and through their wisdom and strength, push our community to be better each day as we continue to Strive, to Seek, to Find, and Not to Yield.

Classical High School, a demanding college preparatory examination school, serves a diverse community and provides its students with the means to achieve high standards in a rigorous learning environment. Classical encourages its students to pursue academic, athletic, artistic, and personal growth so that they will experience success in colleges and universities, and will demonstrate excellence and leadership within the global and local community.
