MaST is a K-12, Title I High Achievement charter school that creates innovative pathways for students pursuing knowledge focused on Mathematics, Science, and Technology. Over time, MaST has expanded this vision to include 21st Century learning and innovative teaching practices and has grown to a waitlist of over 9,000 students.
MaST's unique STREAM model allows an in-depth look at Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Art, and Math across the curriculum. "STREAM curriculum" provides students with hands-on and creative activities/lessons in order to prepare students for future careers. MaST incorporates elements of the STREAM curriculum in all levels of K-12 education.
A few components of MaST's STREAM model include a K-12 robotics program, multiple makerspaces focused on design and 3D concepts, an HD Video Studio, a Lego robotics/coding space, and a one-to-one device program. Through STREAM, students learn vital 21st century skills such as problem solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation along with essential technology skill sets.
The CEO of MaST commented, "MaST has focused its model of learning on STREAM education, which infuses Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Arts, and Math into all approaches of the curriculum and learning environments. We have made efforts to incorporate innovation and 21st century learning in everything we do at MaST. Our teachers are innovative, inspirational, and role models for our MaST students sharing the vision of MaST and carrying it forward each day. They are the key to the success of our children and this recognition is a tribute to them."
