Good Hope Middle School, located in Mechanicsburg PA, serves a diverse population of 1175 students in grades 6-8. The school embraces a team structure at each grade level, where teachers collaborate strategically within small Professional Learning Communities to integrate activities and opportunities for student learning and success. We pride ourselves in a high level of academic rigor and expectation, coupled with a high level of support. Our student-centered culture allows each child to explore, create, and inspire. Courses are designed to meet student needs, including remediation, enrichment, and acceleration opportunities. Within each class, a high level of differentiation allows teachers to meet the individual needs of every student. In addition to the core subjects, all students take a period of Cultural Arts every day for all three years. Problem-based learning, collaboration, interdisciplinary and global connections, and creativity are fostered through cyclic rotations of art, computers, family and consumer sciences, French, German, health, library, music, Spanish, and technology education. A growth-mindset philosophy is pervasive throughout the school. Our strong School-Wide Positive Behavior Support structure allows students to be active participants in building a community of respect and collaboration. Incentive programs help to celebrate the great behaviors and accomplishments of our students. All students and staff members participate in a small advisory groups which meet bi-weekly and engage students in lessons and activities that focus on citizenship, community, communication, teamwork, service, goal-setting, wellness, and other social/emotional needs. A hallmark of our school community is our focus on developing strong relationships and connections between and among students and adults.
