Excellence in Education - Enrichment for All Children

Public School 130 Hernando De Soto is a Pre-Kindergarten to Fifth Grade elementary school located in New York City, right in the heart of Chinatown and Little Italy. We fully embrace our vision and mission, "Excellence in Education-Enrichment for all Children." We take a whole child approach to education and are grounded in the belief that effort creates ability. We support the potential for growth and success in each and every member of our community. Our vision of equity, self-expression, academic success, and confidence for our children has been realized through our tireless efforts to foster a culture of learning that communicates clear and high expectations.

PS 130's team provides our students with multiple opportunities and pathways to achieve success, discover creativity, strengthen communication and critical thinking skills, and develop positivity and respect toward themselves and others. Not only do we provide our inquisitive young minds with strong academics and a responsive, cohesive curriculum that is data-driven, inclusive, and engaging, but we also believe in empowering and inspiring them through music, dance, and the visual arts. Arts programs offered at every grade level provide an immensely positive learning experience for our students. We have also pushed to integrate technology into our teaching and learning. We enable our students to develop the confidence, self-discipline, work ethic, and commitment required to ensure impactful learning. Our successes are indeed a reality thanks to the tremendous amount of collaboration, dedication, enthusiasm, and support of all our parents, teachers, leaders, and community members.
