Briarcliff Middle School is a sixth through eighth-grade school serving the children of Mountain Lakes, as well as the deaf and hard of hearing students in the Lake Drive School program. Our school and the community form a unique partnership with the common goal of providing for the changing needs of young adolescents in today's society.
Briarcliff students engage in a broad range of curricular offerings that challenge them to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners. The rigorous curriculum in the core subject areas and exploratory courses provide students with an academic experience that will prepare them for the 21st Century. Briarcliff students are encouraged to participate in the school's rich and varied assortment of extra-curricular activities.
In addition to the academic program, Briarcliff students are provided the opportunity to choose individual activities through the Personal Enrichment Program (P.E.P.). This program encourages them to investigate, predict, invent, and imagine. It also nurtures personal growth and development in making choices.
Our school is special because our teachers and staff believe that each students' success is based on their need to feel safe, accepted and valued. From the moment students enter Briarcliff until they graduate, they are cloaked in the school's warmth and supportive climate. At Briarcliff, the focus is the education of the "whole child." Our goal is to provide students with the skills to not only function in an academically challenging environment but to meet the challenges faced by adolescents with confidence as well.
