Pender Public Schools (PPS) is a P-12 school district serving approximately 378 students this school year. The district as a whole is rural in nature and relies heavily on a successful agriculture economy. Our community boasts a diverse business district with a mix of professional and retail businesses as well as a new critical access hospital, medical clinic, assisted living facility, and community center.
There are three main practices that together help make our school successful. First, is our Pendragon PRIDE initiative. PRIDE is an acronym for Preparation, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Excellence. Quarterly PRIDE assemblies recognize positive behavior and classroom successes. Second, is a strong core curriculum in which top-notch classroom teachers provide high quality classroom instruction to all children. Third, is a multi-tiered system of support for students who need assistance. The combination of these practices creates an environment of commitment and achievement at Pender Elementary School.
We have several additional programs in place to help students and families reach their maximum potential. The district is a proud member of the TeamMates Mentoring Program. We staff an after school program, which is free of charge to our families. We also partner with the local ministerium to provide backpacks of food each weekend for any family who may be in need.
These practices, when combined with the variety of other amazing things happening at Pender Elementary, make our school a great place to be. It is definitely a GREAT day to be a Pendragon! Go Big Red!
