Hamlin is a K-5 elementary school in the Rochester Community School District. A landmark in Rochester Hills, Hamlin was founded in 1836 before Michigan became a state. Hamlin serves nearly 400 students who reside within the southern part of the Rochester Hills area in the northern part of metropolitan Detroit. The Hamlin community is one of socioeconomic, cultural, and academic diversity. The staff embraces a growth mindset and believes that all students can learn at high levels. All members of the Hamlin community know that they are safe, valued, and respected.

Improving student literacy and numeracy performance is a school improvement focus. In addition, Hamlin cultivates a Culture of Thinking which aligns with the Harvard Project Zero research of Dr. Ron Ritchhart. Grade level teams meet monthly and follow a Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS) model, discuss student needs, review data, and plan for continued student growth. Staff have also embraced literacy strategies for our English language learners and monolingual students. Furthermore, recognizing the changing socio-emotional needs of our students, Hamlin staff have also adopted the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence strategies created by the work of Dr. Marc Brackett.

The Hamlin Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) provides several enrichment assemblies and opportunities for students throughout the school year and over 100 parents volunteer on an annual basis. Hamlin has a special place in the community's heart and is a school that many teachers send their own children to. Hamlin assures successful learning for all. We learn. We grow. We soar.
