Learn, Lead, and Serve with Respect, Effort, and Pride
Edgar Allan Poe Classical Elementary School is located in the historic Pullman neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. Founded in 1905, we take great pride in our rich history of excellence but we are more excited about preparing our students for success in the 21st century. At Poe, we are constantly innovating but we remain true to the pillars of our mission: Learn, Lead, and Serve.
To ensure the highest levels of academic achievement for our all of our students, we employ a personalized learning pedagogy that addresses their individual needs and interests. Additionally, we seek to develop social-emotional competency through leadership development. All Poe students are leaders, and guided by the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, they hone crucial skills such as goal setting, time management, conflict resolution, and the importance of living a balanced life. Finally, we challenge our students to make a positive impact on the world. We have adopted the slogan Think Globally, Act Locally to guide our service. We are citizens of the world deeply grounded and committed to serving our community.
Staff, students, and parents work together to achieve our mission by adhering to our core values of RESPECT, EFFORT, and PRIDE. We are respectful in all we do and say, we earn respect through our actions. Our excellence is in our effort so we always try our best and are not afraid to fail. We are proud of ourselves and our school. You can not hide that Raven's Pride!
