Brookwood Elementary School, part of the Forsyth County School District, encompasses a diverse population of approximately 1100 students kindergarten through fifth grade. Our vision is to inspire lifelong learners to be the leaders of tomorrow. Our school community collaborates to ensure the five facets of the FCS Learner Profile are the focus for all students:
- Pursuing Continuous Learning
- Exhibiting Strong Personal Qualities
- Utilizing Creative and Critical Thinking
- Engaging and Contributing
- Interacting Effectively
Students consistently meet and exceed the Georgia Standards of Excellence. Our stellar staff utilizes data driven instruction to meet the needs of all learners. Our high achievers are challenged using a variety of research-based models. Teachers and support staff meet regularly to plan engaging, innovative lessons. As a part of our response to intervention, every staff member meets with flexible groups during a designated time to support student learning at all ability levels.
Technology has been an integral part of teaching and learning at Brookwood since we opened our doors in 2009. With the support of our award winning PTA, as well as system and local school funding, students and staff have access to a wide variety of technology. Our online student management system, itslearning, allows teachers to post classroom content and provide differentiated learning opportunities, communicate with stakeholders, assess students, and much more.
Our school community is firmly entrenched in the 7 Mindsets. This research-based curriculum was formulated on the premise that every child is extraordinary. Our school climate is positively impacted by addressing social and emotional needs and facilitating character development. Involving community through family education night is a vital component of this initiative. Students participate in weekly class meetings and Mindset lessons and can be seen mentoring younger students, serving as typical peers in special needs classrooms, and designing and implementing community-based projects throughout the school year.
Everything we do for our students is guided by Brookwood's Mission :
Empowering and encouraging all students to reach their academic potential and to actively participate in school and the community.
