Caring and Sharing Learning School (CSLS) opened in the Fall of 1998, designed on the belief that "all children can learn." CSLS is a high-performing charter school in a highly impoverished community, CSLS has developed an environment that insists on high expectations while recognizing students' individual needs to meet those expectations. CSLS uses a unique process of flexible academic grouping, content knowledge-based lessons, high parental involvement and data driven decision making to develop a strong, supportive educational community. Arts training in Music, Dance, Theater, and Visual Arts provides an extra layer of intense motivation for students to be well rounded individuals. Parents are invited to quarterly "Parent Data Night" sessions in which students, parents, and faculty review scores and data that demonstrate student achievement from the previous grading period and plan a path to increase accomplishments for the next period. Extended day enrichment activities, a plethora of educational field trips, and a tremendous Summer STEM camp provide ample opportunities for students and families to deepen their academic and social success year round.
