Dr. Olga Mohan High School
Dr. Olga Mohan High School (DOMHS) is a charter school located near downtown Los Angeles and serves students who are historically low income and underserved within the community. The mission of the school is that all scholars at Alliance DOMHS will engage in academically rigorous curriculum to prepare them for college and beyond. DOMHS opened its doors in August 2006 and currently serves 450 students spanning 9th-12th grades, and witnessed its first graduation class in June 2010. Since 2010, nearly 99% of each senior cohort has graduated on time, and over 85% have been accepted into a 4-year college. Additionally, state scores indicate that DOMHS is a top performing school within the city of Los Angeles and the state of California. Furthermore, the U.S. News and World Report and Education Equality Index have recognized DOMHS for closing the achievement gap. Our success is attributed to a shared mission among the DOMHS team members, parents, students, and community; the use of formative, summative, and additional internal assessments that support teachers and the school leadership in making data-driven decisions in instruction; the adoption of school-wide strategies in reading, writing, math, and science that teachers learn through consistent and ongoing professional development; and the use of teacher leaders and distributive leadership to support new teachers.
The DOMHS community proudly serves students in the Los Angeles community, and is fully committed to closing the achievement gap and ensuring that all DOMHS students are successful in their college and career endeavors.
