Building the Hearts and Minds of Tomorrow
I am a K.N.I.G.H.T.! I am Kind, Noble, Inquisitive, Generous, Honorable, and Talented. These words echo through the halls motivating Canterbury students to reach their full potential socially, culturally, academically, emotionally, and physically. Canterbury Elementary has a long-standing commitment of excellence attributed to the consistent implementation of 21st Century Learners' 4-C's: Collaboration, Communication, Creativity, and Critical Thinking. Canterbury's vision of developing critical and creative thinkers, lifelong learners, and productive citizens is realized by engaging students in practices which build self-confidence, develop social skills, share and defend ideas, and envision a future of endless possibilities. We serve a diverse population and unite to form our "Canterbury Family" of students, parents, staff, and community. Every member is vested in the creation of a culture that is purposely designed to provide meaningful interactions among all stakeholders to motivate students to reach their potential. Canterbury has achieved the following recognitions: Highest Distinctions from the Texas Education Agency, Title I Reward and High Performing School Award, and The Texas STAR Honor Roll and STEM Honor Roll Award in math and science. Canterbury offers myriad opportunities to cultivate the well-rounded child through fine arts, technology, and after-school activities such as UIL, Destination Imagination, Green Club, Sports and Fitness Club, Robotics, Instrumental Ensemble, Choir, Morning News Broadcast-CKN, Cheerleading, and Chess. It is Canterbury's philosophy and implementation of our motto "Building the Hearts and Minds of Tomorrow" that empowers students to be a Canterbury K.N.I.G.H.T.!
