Loving it at Lovett

Loving it at Lovett

Edgar Odell Lovett Elementary Fine Arts Magnet School is located in Southwest Houston in the Houston Independent School District. When you walk through the doors at Lovett you feel a sense of community and pride. We like to say, "We love it at Lovett." Lovett's vision is to work as a Professional Learning Community to provide opportunities that will meet the individual needs of students in an environment that fosters a positive and enthusiastic learning experience. We serve the whole child by creating a school environment where the academic and artistic worlds meet seamlessly. Collaboration through professional learning communities, strong school wide systems for using data connected with small group instruction have been key factors in academic achievement.

We are a high performing elementary school and a 2015 recipient of the Magnet Schools of America School of Excellence Award. We offer both a neighborhood vanguard and fine arts program. Students are provided a well-rounded rigorous academic and fine arts curriculum. Once enrolled at Lovett all students enjoy the multitude of opportunities offered through the magnet program which includes art, physical education, and a music emphasis of concert band, strings or classroom music. Students are encouraged to explore their talents and interest through a variety of additional learning experiences that include Who's TV (broadcasting and television technology), Honor Chorus, Hand Bells, Student Council, Concert Band, and Safety Patrol. Lovett is also proud to have an extensive list of community partners such as De Camera and Young Audiences which help to merge academics with the arts.
