A Community of Encouragement. A Culture of Excellence. These eight words are our district's tagline and they exemplify what makes York Suburban a great place to learn and achieve. While there are two unique principles in our tagline, in practice they are inseparable. At York Suburban, we maintain a Culture of Excellence because we have a Community of Encouragement.

New students and staff members regularly comment about our exceptionally high expectations. We take pride in having such standards and we always expect students to put forth their very best, whether in the classroom or in other aspects of their lives. However, we will never establish such an expectation without a plan to support and encourage our students. We emphasize growth as much as we talk about achievement and we celebrate the progress the students have made, whether it is the first step, the last step, or somewhere in between. Our teachers, coaches, and advisors take the time to work with students, both in class and beyond the school day, to track progress, to give precise and individualized feedback, and to continually encourage the students as they pursue their goals.

While outsiders may consider it a clichè, there is a genuine Culture of Excellence in everything we do at York Suburban High School. We are successful because we partner that with a Community of Encouragement that actively supports all students in their quest to be the best they can possibly be.
