Mifflinburg Area Intermediate School is a school of 430+ students located in rural Union County in east central Pennsylvania. The school receives Title One support due to a high number of families within the community working through economic hardships. At Mifflinburg Area Intermediate School we strive to aspire today's learners to become tomorrow's leaders. We accomplish this by holding high expectations for academic achievement and behavior and by maintaining a school environment where students feel safe and have their needs supported. We believe strongly that all students are capable of doing rigorous academic work, but understand that some students need help overcoming obstacles to be successful. The school principal, counselor, social worker, special education leaders, and teachers work together to develop individual plans of success for students with complex instructional needs. Teachers and staff convey a message to students that says, "This is important. You can do it. I'm here to help you." We praise effort and consistently recognize when students are acting respectfully, responsibly, and safely. This results in a positive school environment. Teachers work hard to improve instructional skills and implement best practices. An increasing number of teachers have taken on leadership roles within the school. Parents are treated as partners in the learning process. Everyone at Mifflinburg Area Intermediate School is invested in the lives and welfare of the students. This investment is producing positive results for our students and families.
