Collaboration builds academic and social skills!

The mission of Madeira Middle School is to "personalize learning and ensure success" for each student. We are a true middle school in that each grade level is made up of a "team" of teachers who work collaboratively toward this mission. The teachers understand we receive upper elementary students who ride bicycles and skateboards (5th grade) and send forth teen-agers who are thinking of getting their "temps" soon (8th grade). This means each team works on transition of academic, social, emotional, physical, and moral skill sets from one grade to the next. Working on the whole child in this manner gives our building a very strong student-centered focus and allows teachers to differentiate instruction as well as provide enrichment and intervention when needed. Our small school size (about 115 students per grade) allows our staff to form great relationships with students to foster a growth mindset and "can do" spirit in the mind of each child. Students assume leadership roles in our school and are instrumental in our school culture. The LIGHT (standing for leadership, integrity, generosity, honesty, and teamwork) initiative was created by our student council and serves as a rallying point for all that is good in Madeira Middle School, which is a great place for students to thrive during their middle years!
