Jay M. Robinson: Opening Doors to Dreams

Jay M. Robinson Middle School, located in Charlotte, North Carolina, serves over 1,100 students in grades 6-8. Students, staff, and parents are committed to high academic standards and believe all students can learn at high levels and work diligently to support students in their academic growth. Staff and students feel comfortable taking academic risks in the classroom and pushing through complex tasks to develop new knowledge and spark new interests and inquiries. Disciplinary literacy is the catalyst that drives learning in all classrooms, as teachers incorporate content-rich text to support students who work collaboratively to develop deep understanding through various metacognitive strategies. Additionally, every student at Robinson is provided a Chromebook to enhance collaboration, provide access to research opportunities, and publish or share ideas. Robinson provides a wide variety of opportunities for students to challenge themselves academically, artistically, and socially, both in the classroom and beyond through participation in various clubs and extracurricular activities and fine arts productions and regional competitions. Robinson staff is committed to making learning experiences for all students positive and engaging, focusing on the belief that students will experience success at school.
