The Cathedral community gathers to embrace the new school year.

The Cathedral community gathers to embrace the new school year.

Cathedral High School, one of Indiana's oldest and largest Catholic high schools, is uniquely diverse. Students come from more than 150 different schools, all nine central Indiana counties, and from neighborhoods in every part of Indianapolis. The result is a student body that is diverse in five important ways - geographically, economically, academically, racially, and religiously.

Cathedral was founded in 1918 by the Brothers of Holy Cross and today continues as a school in the Holy Cross tradition. As part of the school's mission says, Cathedral's goal is to "transform a diverse student body to have the competence to see and the courage to act."

The school's hallmark program, the Cathedral 360 Personalized Education Experience, is how the school creates an individualized, holistic approach to the development of every student. From meeting with their academic and college counselors before freshman year to having this same counselor for all four years of school, Cathedral students receive personalized mentoring from day one. The result is better academic choices, high involvement in co-curricular activities, and 100 percent acceptance at four-year colleges and universities.

The success of this approach is evident in the achievements of Cathedral students during the 2015-2016 school year: 110 AP Scholars, 20 National Merit Scholars, more than 30 arts performances, 9 students qualifying for Nationals in Speech and Debate, 6 state athletic championships, 1 national championship, and more than $45 million in scholarships and awards offered to the 326 members of the Class of 2016.
