Daniel Wright is one of the most celebrated junior high schools in the State of Illinois. Student performances on state and national assessments continually rise to the top, including most recently becoming 2016 National Science Olympiad Champions! Our National Blue Ribbon School recognitions are revered and celebrated for highly qualified teacher-leaders and academically talented students, who possess great character and embody positive social/emotional virtues. As young leaders, who volunteer talent, time, and treasure for numerous service and charitable projects, our students truly deserve the recognition.
Daniel Wright Junior High cultivates a culture of preparing students for the world they live in today and the one they will work in tomorrow. The rigorous educational program personalizes instruction through 1:1 technology. Spanish language and a creative arts/physical education rotation complement core classes, with all curricular areas centering on rigorous learning standards.
Our school environment is one that promotes academic and social/emotional growth through diverse programming. Teachers design learning experiences for students to apply knowledge and collaborate with peers, locally and globally. Experiential learning is the norm through hands-on lessons. Learning is supported and extended through comprehensive student services and highly qualified teaching specialists.
At Daniel Wright we embrace "The Wright Way," which encourages students to be respectful, responsible, and positive. These principles combine with a collaborative school community, after-school activities, and co-curricular clubs, to supplement our educational program focused on the whole child. Daniel Wright is a place where all students can belong and thrive according to their interests and strengths.
