One-to one devices

Myrtle Beach Intermediate is located in downtown Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in a tourist-driven part of the state. We are a Title I school serving only fourth and fifth grades with nearly 700 students. Due to our location, we are a cultural melting pot: 44% of our students are Caucasian, 23% African American, 23% ELL, 9% bi/multiracial, and 1% are classified as other. Approximately 1 in 4 of our students do not speak English as their first language, and our students originate from over 20 different countries. Even with these challenges, our schools made gains on SCPASS and has an absolute rating of A.

Our philosophy of putting children first drives everything we do here at MBI. We search tirelessly for ways of assisting our families so that our students are ready to learn. Our balanced literacy and spiral math curriculums serve our students well. We strive to find ways of hooking our students educationally so that they may grow as lifelong learners. To prepare our children for the work ahead and the 21st century, we use a blended learning model so that technology enhances our daily lessons. We use interactive lessons that incorporate Smart Boards, iPads, and a variety of educational sites. We allow students the creative freedom to take what they have learned and demonstrate their newfound knowledge through various technological modes. In short, we cultivate a culture of caring, supportive learners with the skills they will need for our world. When we work together, anything is possible!
