“Choose Your Attitude, Play, Make Their Day, and Be There”. These four phrases from the Fish philosophy have helped shape our culture at DC West Elementary in Valley, NE. Here you will find a hardworking, caring, playful, and committed staff determined to make the learning experience the best possible.

Choose your attitude: It is essential to empower, motivate, and guide students in all academic areas and personal endeavors. We are able to do this by finding the deep source of energy, creativity, and passion that exists inside each of us to learn to love what we do.

Play: Having students who love coming to school each day is a mission DC West staff strives to achieve. Letting students know it’s okay to have fun and play makes learning possible while bringing out creativity and happier moods.

Make their day: Before learning can even occur, staff at DC West realize that the mindsets of students need to be ready. We engage our students by pulling out each of their unique strengths and focusing our attention on ways to make each student’s day positive.

Be there: Low student-to-teacher ratios, longevity, and commitment from staff are key components in successfully developing meaningful relationships. Students know that teachers care and will give them the full attention they deserve.

At DC West, we work continuously to create and conserve meaningful relationships and endless possibilities for our students. We accomplish high student achievement by providing the best education possible in the most inviting manner.
