Bush Elementary is located in the rural community of Laurel County, Kentucky. We serve preschool through fifth grade, and have approximately 550 students, 56% of which qualify for free and reduced lunch. Many of our teachers and students are second and third generation "Bush families." The community has strong ties and support for the school is overflowing.
Over the past few years, our school has been labeled a high performing school. During the 2014-15 school year our students scored at the 99% according to the Kentucky Performance Rating for Educational Progress Test (K-Prep). Currently, Bush Elementary is the number five school in the state based on the state test. We have been labeled a "School of Distinction" for the past two years, and and in 2015 represented Kentucky as a National Title 1 school.
As a school, we take pride in how our community plays a vital role in the educational process of our students. Last year alone, parents and community members, donated over 2000 hours to our school. This, along with teamwork from staff, helped us achieve a goal of being one of the top schools in the state of Kentucky.
The staff and students enter school daily with a common mission of implementing our school motto: Striving to be the Best! We expect the best from our students and they in return expect the same from the staff. Together, we will produce life long learners and develop future leaders of America!
