Individualized, child-centered instruction forms the bedrock of our educational experience at Pecatonica Elementary School. With high standards for academic achievement and cutting-edge curricula informing instruction, our school boasts countless resources for early intervention and a firm foundation for our early learners. Our balanced literacy program targets instruction to the ability of the individual child, providing systematic, strategic instruction of phonics and spelling, while instilling a love for reading through the discovery of books of personal interest and small group guided instruction. Our math curriculum offers learning opportunities that stress critical thinking, problem-solving, and mastery of basic facts, all concepts essential for future success. During their time at PES, our students blossom from apprehensive kindergarteners embarking on their educational journeys to confident, capable fourth graders ready for the academic challenges that await them after they leave our learning community.
Instilling in our students the tenets of our school pledge, “Pride in Ourselves, Excellence in Education, Community Awareness,” is an important responsibility that we here at Pecatonica Elementary School assume with a great deal of pride, awe, and wonder.
