All students can learn! Howard Elementary teachers believe that every opportunity should be given so that all students can learn. Teachers and staff work to empower students to reach their full potential, to develop the academic skills and the character to become successful students. Working as a team with parents and the community we have been able to identify areas for change and growth and as a result students have achieved at a higher level. There are high expectations for students to achieve and do their best. Each classroom displays the saying, "Good, Better, Best. Never let it rest. Until your good is better and your better is best. (never let good be good enough)". To this end, teachers utilize the various resources available to teach to the variety of learning styles of the students so that students can do their best.
We have weekly grade level meetings so teachers can collaborate and have discussions as to what is working for them and what is not. The school has added technology tools for teachers to incorporate in their lessons so as to help students do better and learn more. Teachers have access to a computer lab and an iPad and mini-computer cart and every classroom has a SMART Board. Teachers and staff are able to utilize these technology resources to make learning more up to date and engaging. We work along with the parent organization to facilitate better communication and cooperation with parents and to garner their expertise to make learning more relevant for students.
