Montandon Elementary School is one of three elementary schools within the Milton Area School District, located approximately 60 miles north of Pennsylvania’s state capitol in Harrisburg. It is a small school with just under 150 students attending kindergarten through fifth grade.
As a District and a school, Montandon is committed to preparing students to succeed in the 21st century through educational excellence. Having a district-wide focus on building broad and strong literacy skills from birth through 12th grade, and with a strong emphasis on community, empathy, enthusiasm, integrity, leadership, loyalty, resiliency and respect, all members of the Milton Area School District strive to promote creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, collaboration and transparency, self-management and flexibility.
Within the context of the district’s vision, Montandon strives to empower all stakeholders to provide professional development and opportunities to teach content-area literacy skills and strategies, use data to inform instruction, align its curriculum to the PA Core Standards, create common district assessments, provide instruction to support and enrich all learners, create robust literacy environments, and employ researched-based best practices in literacy learning and development.
Montandon currently has in place highly functional and collaborative curriculum and professional development committees, building-level data teams, and district and early childhood education literacy teams. These diverse groups of forward-thinking educational leaders guide effective decision making with student achievement at the core of all of the professional growth initiatives. The administration, faculty and staff of Montandon commit themselves to the high quality education of all children.
