A Middle States Accredited School located in the scenic Susquehanna River Valley of Pennsylvania, Danville Area High School (DAHS) strives to "Build the Future - One Student at a Time.- It is widely believed that standards represent the "floor" of learning and it is the responsibility as educators to help students master this minimum level of learning. Over the last several years, DAHS has become a model for high academic achievement and overall school excellence. It offers twenty-two honors level courses and thirteen Advanced Placement Courses. Its comprehensive educational system encompasses the whole child and teaches transferable skills. Its curriculum extends beyond the standards to offer the opportunity for all students to reach their fullest potential and to distinguish themselves academically.
DAHS students excel outside of the classroom walls as well. Over eighty percent of DAHS students participate in at least one athletic program or club. DAHS offers nineteen Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association sports and twenty-three clubs and activities for students. DAHS has fully implemented a School-wide Positive Behavior Support Program called the "Ironmen PRIDE" program. The program recognizes students who are Prepared, Respectful, Inclusive, Driven, and Excellent. The school has also been designated as a -No Place for Hate- school by the Anti-Defamation League.
Overall, DAHS is an exemplary school, evidenced by high academic achievement, comprehensive programming, effective remediation practices, and high student involvement in athletic and extracurricular activities. The faculty and staff of DAHS aim to produce responsible, 21st century citizens who are creative, innovative, and collaborative.
