Community, cohesive and caring. These three words capture the true essence of Voorheesville Elementary School (VES) and make it a truly unique school.

Due to its consistently stellar academic performance, extensive elective course offerings, and willingness of the staff to embrace and implement cutting edge best practices, VES makes being a student at the school not simply about going to school, but about sharing the comprehensive student experience. All this is possible because of the strong community it has both in and outside of its walls.

The staff, regardless of their assigned role, are fully vested in their mission to go above and beyond to ensure each day is worthwhile. Be it visiting the science lab to engage in a creek study, or a culminating performance of a theater arts class that all students have the opportunity to take each year, there is an innate commitment to thrive. The support from families, local businesses and community is evident in their invested participation in the classrooms.

VES is a cohesive learning environment. Despite having nearly 500 students and 100 staff members, it spends a great deal of time continuously developing a recognition of the importance of the school "family". They all come together in times of need, and go to great lengths to celebrate successes of individual members. Most importantly, they care. The parking lot is never empty, and the staff works well beyond the regular day to ensure that the needs of students are thoroughly met.
