Apple Core Award Ceremony

Apple Core Award Ceremony

Although John Dooley Elementary is only one of the 336 schools in the Clark County School District, it was honored as Best in State for the Summer Scholastic Reading Challenge; ranked as the top school in Henderson for the AppleCore Reading Challenge; and has been designated twice as a 5-Star School for demonstrating exceptional academic proficiency and growth.

The school implements a cyclical process of assessment and instruction while focusing on student engagement. Each student’s instructional levels are identified and their individual growth is closely monitored. Teachers pinpoint areas of student need and work collaboratively to provide differentiated instruction through the school wide intervention/enrichment block. Staff utilize many key educational strategies, such as Kagan's Rally Coach, which encourages all students to take a critical stance on concepts and justify their conclusions. Teachers create classrooms with a culture of safety, tolerance, and respect that encourages students to take educational risks and communicate their ideas. Our staff incorporates elements of fun in all students’ tasks and celebrates student success.

Parents are also actively involved at Dooley Elementary. Halls and classrooms are filled with parents volunteering their time and talents to assist in creating a positive learning environment. Whether it’s working with small groups of students, creating bulletin boards, or working in the office, parents are an integral part of their students’ success.

Dooley Elementary strives to create a place where children love learning; for it is their love of learning that will prepare them to be the successful leaders of tomorrow.
