"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has" (Margaret Mead). Carriage Hill Elementary in Papillion, NE is comprised of an incredibly dedicated, thoughtful, persistent, hardworking, and committed family of individuals who are doing just that.

Four years ago, a fierce sense of urgency emerged after receiving disheartening data from our state assessments. We knew this information was not a reflection of our true capabilities. After individual and staff reflection, a focus was created intent on a deep understanding of curricular indicators, as well as the development and analysis of common grade level formative assessments aligned to those indicators. A systems approach to analyzing student data was also established.

Teams continue to use this system to identify each student’s strengths and areas of opportunity. Professional Learning Community teams set goals based on baseline data and monitor progress to determine effectiveness of instruction and intervention. Encouraging and challenging all students to develop to their full potential starts with the adults. Conversations at Carriage Hill do not include limitations or excuses. Rather, they are centered on problem solving, which causes us to seek to understand, learn more, work differently, and never give up. The mindset throughout Carriage Hill is that all students will achieve.

Building relationships with parents is a critical component to the school’s success. Parents are their child’s first and best teachers. Trust and relationships are best built individually and first centered on what we all love...their child. There is hope when challenges are tackled as a team. Carriage Hill is a place of hope, high expectations, and deep relationships.

Loving, Learning, Leading...with Cougar Pride!
