Festus Elementary School (FES) is the only primary elementary building in the Festus R-6 School District. The school is part of the small, but growing community of Festus, Missouri. The student population is comprised of approximately 980 students, mostly Caucasian, but with a growing minority population, especially English Language Learners. Today, Festus Elementary School has a free and reduced lunch student population of approximately 45%.
FES is currently one of the top performing schools in the state of Missouri. FES owes its tremendous success to its active and thriving Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). These PLCs are the foundation to the success of the elementary school and allow us to achieve our mission of "Doing Whatever It Takes to Build Strong Foundations to Promote a Lifetime of Learning".
Meeting the needs of all students is of the highest priority to FES. The culture of the school is rooted in the belief that all students deserve a positive place to learn, where it is obvious that teachers and staff care about them, and where their individual needs are met.
Visitors to FES always remark on its size, but quickly say while huge, it doesn’t feel big. FES strives to make the building as child friendly and stress free as possible so that the job of learning can take place in a positive and peaceful environment. Spend time at FES and it is easy to see why it is a place where parents want their children to go and learn.
