Jamestown Elementary School is one of seven high achieving elementary schools in the bedroom community of Hudsonville, Michigan, located between Grand Rapids and the Lake Michigan lake shore. With over 560 K - 5 students and growing, Jamestown services one of the district's highest economically disadvantaged populations yet continues to outperform like school buildings in the county and state on local and state assessments. For the past three years, Jamestown has been recognized by the Michigan Department of Education as a "Beating the Odds" and "Reward" school, as well as being ranked the "#1 Rural School in Michigan" for the 2012/13 school year.

Jamestown teachers are highly skilled and deeply committed to student success, collaborating to provide engaging instruction that builds upon learners’ strengths and meets their varied needs. Multi-tiered instructional supports are ongoing and intentional and based on careful analysis of formal and informal data.

To help support student success, the Jamestown staff embraces many strategies that impact students both academically and socially, including a school-wide character program and anti-bullying campaign, after school tutoring, a summer reading program with open summer library hours, and an intervention program based on regular, systematic data review.

Programs are in place that highlight the community support critical to student success, including the Girls on the Run program, a WatchDOGS program in which over 200 "dads of great students" work in the school building, as well as a thriving Kids Hope USA mentoring program for at-risk students.
