Central Elementary, "Where Team Work Makes the Dream Work." In 2009, teachers, administration, parents and students created a motto that would guide our school, grow our students and prepare children to be successful members of our community and beyond.
We are located in the rural community of Marshall County, Ky. Serving children preschool through 5th grade, 53% of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch and 16% receive special education services. We place an emphasis on closing the gap between all students by evaluating each child’s unique needs and making changes to teaching, environment and interventions.
Implementing technology school-wide allows us to expose students to a world beyond the classroom. Teachers bring lessons to life with interactive white-boards in every classroom. iPads are also used for assessments and content enrichment.
Parents and teachers work together to create a supportive learning atmosphere. All students are "Respectful, Responsible and Ready" to learn with a focus on 21st Century Skills, Common Core Standards and College and Career readiness. We eagerly volunteer to pilot district programs including Positive Behavior Intervention Systems and Standards Based Report Cards. We embrace collaboration and survey parents annually to help guide decision making.
Team work is the foundation. Our teachers engage in out-of-the-box thinking, take risks and embrace change to support the continued growth of our students. We strive to ensure that all students have the opportunity to learn in a safe, orderly, standards-based environment. Our TEAM works to make the DREAM work!
