Rockland Elementary School - Libertyville, IL

Rockland School, built in 1927, is located in Libertyville, Illinois with 300 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Historical features are found throughout the school from the iconic red doors, original brick exterior, and original wood trimmed classroom windows/doors. Ninety percent of students reside within walking distance of the school that has greeted four generations of families. A dedicated staff and supportive parent population are the foundation for student success at Rockland School. Students exhibit great character and are rewarded with "Raptor Rewards" to recognize positive behaviors daily. The "Rockland Way" permeates the school with high levels of student engagement, and a true collaboration of teachers and students. This mission serves as a road map to guide staff, students, and parents toward a positive social/emotional, behavioral, and academic journey through the 21st Century. At Rockland, the 21st Century Skills are outlined within District #70’s six Applications of Learning, which include: Communication, Working on Teams, Self Direction, Solving Problems, Using Technology, and Making Connections. Using these skills greatly influences students' success in school, the workplace, and community. By providing a positive learning environment and differentiating instruction based on student need, Rockland’s state assessment results remain at a high level. Rockland School has been and will continue to be a special place for students, staff, and the community. The historic brick building is full of traditions and memories for those in Libertyville. A sign welcoming visitors into the building holds true, "The red doors will always be here to welcome you home."
