Barbara B. Rose Elementary School is located in South Barrington, Ill and serves 470 students in grades kindergarten through five. Rose is one of 12 schools in the Barrington 220 School District. Established in 1999, the Rose community is very culturally diverse with more than 30 languages spoke by its students. Rose offers many exceptional opportunities for children including the unique Chinese immersion classes and accelerated learning for gifted students. The school's 60 staff members are committed to implementing best practice instruction and building a relationship-centered learning community. The Rose culture places high expectations on academics and social-emotional competencies. The school improvement team at Rose School guides the staff in challenging the status quo of instruction and cultivating a high-level of passion toward professional learning. Teachers are given choices regarding what and how they learn. Professional curiosity and action research are valued. In turn, this allows teachers to authenticate that learning is a lifelong endeavor. Barbara Rose School takes the following school motto seriously: "Every child has gifts and talents.
