Whitney High School serves approximately 1025 students in grades seven through twelve as a college preparatory high school in ABC Unified School District. Our mission is to prepare students for entrance to and success at their best-match colleges or universities. With this mind, our staff designs meaningful activities and lessons to help students discover their "element," a term coined by Sir Ken Robinson, as a place where a person’s interests and strengths meet. The process of helping students discover their "element" serves to make learning experiences personal and purposeful for all students. Once students have determined their "element," student advisers and grade-level mentors work closely with students and their families to identify and pursue the most appropriate college or university for each students’ unique interests and needs. Whitney provides an academically challenging educational program for college-bound students. The staff is highly committed to a research-based, results-driven instructional program to assist students in achieving academic excellence; while they successfully develop socially and emotionally. Our school maintains a rigorous and relevant college-preparatory environment while preserving the intimate atmosphere of a small campus. We offer our students a variety of learning experiences both in and out of the traditional classroom setting. With this individualized and purposeful approach, our students develop the strong, foundational skills necessary for them to achieve tremendous success in college/university, and their future career choices.
