Student life at Reid Traditional Schools' Valley Academy

Reid Traditional Schools’ Valley Academy is one of the first charter schools established in Arizona. Located in northwest Phoenix, the school has consistently earned the best possible annual school rating from the Arizona Department of Education every year since 1995. We are proud of this rating because it represents public recognition of our success in preparing children for college, career, and life. Together with parents, our teachers and administration are committed and passionate about inspiring students on a daily basis. The strength of RTS Valley Academy has been strong parental involvement, caring and supportive teachers, and an unwavering dedication to our mission and traditional teaching philosophies. Our core curriculum is classic, orderly and sequential. Language Arts studies begin with Spalding phonics in kindergarten and culminate with the study of classical literature and Greek and Latin word roots. Memorization of basic math facts begins in kindergarten as part of our accelerated Saxon math program. Science stresses the logical and hands-on application of basic scientific methods. Our students receive a well-rounded education that includes art history, music, P.E., and technology in a stable, friendly learning environment. As we celebrate this Blue Ribbon Schools award, we also celebrate 20 years of genuine commitment to our children, our school, and America’s future.
