Benson Primary School, home of the proud Bobcat Citizen, has a warm school family learning environment. Everything we do positively impacts the life of every child. Our success begins with happy children and outstanding personnel. Benson School District lies in the heart of Benson, located in southeastern Arizona. Our district is located on one square block in the center of this small rural town that is filled with rich railroad history. We have tremendous community support that has a 65% free and reduced lunch population. Even with this financial dynamic and a transient population, we have been designated as an "A" label school for the past four years by the Arizona Department of Education. All classrooms have effective classroom management practices with high levels of student engagement using the latest technology. We use an electronic curriculum calendar map aligned to state standards. We provide reteach and enrich opportunities for all of our students during the day, after school, and weekly sessions during breaks. Data drives all of our instruction. The school family culture is evident when the principal challenges the students to read and is found on the roof dressed as a penguin, chicken, or zebra. Parents are invited to join the students in monthly Bobcat Rallies where the best happenings of our school are recognized. Java with Jansson is another opportunity for parents to meet with the principal to discuss topics of interest. We recommend to other schools to consistently keep your eye on what is best for children.
