Eastside kindergarten students celebrate learning!

Students eagerly enter Eastside Elementary each day knowing teachers are dedicated to helping them achieve their goals and believing they are valued members of Eastside’s family. Our environment of excellence is fostered through a myriad of opportunities and approaches. Changing demographics motivated Eastside teachers to evolve into strong Professional Learning Communities to ensure students’ needs are met. Through the shared experiences of coaching cycles, collaborative grade level and vertical planning, and response to intervention teams, teachers have become a community of professionals working together to uphold higher expectations for all. Additionally, a grant from the Arkansas Arts Council, an agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, and the National Endowment for the Arts, funded the Literacy in Action program developed through a partnership with Trike Theatre in Bentonville, Arkansas. This kinesthetic approach to literacy instruction propels Eastside students to high levels of academic performance across all sub populations. Also, community partnerships with Hobb’s State Park and Ozark Natural Science Center create opportunities for our students to engage in hands-on learning experiences throughout the school year. Since becoming a Continuous Learning school, our teachers utilize intercession opportunities to visit exemplary programs in other schools, gaining valuable insights to help Eastside continually improve. Kids College, comprised of half day tailored instruction twice a year, helps struggling students strengthen skills and develop confidence over intercessions, resulting in academic gains. At Eastside our community and culture define who and what we truly are...a team of successful individuals dedicated to excellence.
